Reading Comprehension Mystery Activity | Grades 3–4 | Text Evidence & Inference
Can your student solve the case?
The Golden Storybook has disappeared from the BrainSpark Library.
Four people were nearby, the clues do not immediately tell the whole story, and students must use their reading skills and evidence to discover what really happened.
The Reading Detective: The Case of the Missing Storybook turns reading comprehension practice into an engaging detective investigation for Grades 3–4.
Instead of simply answering another page of reading questions, students work through an unfolding case in which each activity helps reveal another piece of evidence.

The Mystery Experience
Students investigate five major pieces of evidence:
WHEN → WHERE → OBJECT → WHY → WHO
Students record clues in their Junior Detective Case File as the investigation develops. Near the end of the case, they examine a final witness statement, complete a suspect board, and use all of their evidence to make their final deduction.
Great detectives do not guess. They read, think, and use evidence.
